Onward....

Spring in the Zion lands has been wonderful.  I like to look close at our world.  There are wonderful universes in the rock here very much like my light paintings. Combined with plant life it is a joy just to see new life in the middle of a desert rich with abstraction.

So as the summer solstice comes to pass these are two of the best new spring mandalas of spring 2019.  ~enjoy~

New Zion mandalas

After considerable time with the name of Peter you begin to understand rock.   My favorite recent photo in Zion a mandala, I call "Relic" The name came to me after reading this quote:

I now reside atop the Zion plateau near Virgin Utah.

The diversity of rock and nature is amazing.

I think I'll stay.

The rock & diversity of nature is so like my abstract works.

Ok? - so what's the big deal about Zion?

Alternative Earth created in Photoshop in 2014 as a mandala, and was made from one of my best light painting done in 1990 on film called Jet Stream is that, Eye of Zion 2017, as a straight natural mandala that I made last spring is almost exactly the same as Alternative Earth - except for the color palette of course.  And as I wandered in the slot canyons of Zion I was taken aback by how I was seeing my light paintings everywhere -

it even made me woozy at times.....

I've really enjoyed this image and the sculpture is full length and very beautiful and perfectly lit - I made this image with my cell phone

I will be showing some of my best recent art at the craft studio in the Memorial Union the last two weeks of May.  A reception is planned for June 2nd from 2 to 4 pm. Let us gather and enjoy our art and stories together. This is where my journey as a artist began, with the folks at the craft studio back in 1974 they taught  me so much.
